I was browsing the Library of Congress's on-line exhibit of pictures from the Chicago Daily News (1902-1933). Apparently, in late 1911/early 1912, there was a relatively big murder case in Chicago. The case involved a Mrs. Hattie Kaufman. On February 20, 1912, they published a photo of the 4 men convicted in that case. One was named Roland CHANNELL.

Not exactly the kind of fame you were probably hoping for, but...
