Angela....On the site below, enter the name ELLEN SAVANNAH MAZE.It gives the names of her parents.

Next, on the same site above, in the father/mother places enter the name MONROE CHANEY and SARAH WHITE.There will be several children listed with those parents.

This really appears to me to be Ellen Savannah's birth family.Makes it a bit difficult that she was born when she was and missed being on a census record with her parents/siblings.Note the names of the children enumerated with the family and compare them with the death records from above. But, please try to back up this info with some additional proof of some sort to make sure it is Ellen's family.I wouldn't want to lead you in the wrong direction.
On the 1900 site below, enter the name JAMES M CHANEY, b. 1849 in Alabama, spouse SARAH E.When his names comes up, click on the little dark rectangle to the left of his name to see an actual census image.

Here are some others researching this James Monroe Chaney family.Notice the last person who posted information has given the names of some of the children. The thing that really bothers me is the that Sarah's mother's last name is STANTON on the 1900 census, because those death records from above give Sarah's name as SMITH, but surely the same lady.My theory is that perhaps Sarah IS a SMITH and the STANTON is a 2nd marriage for her mother??
