The message of death always comes to us with a shock, especially when we are caused to mourn for one who through many years has become endeared to everyone.MRS. SARAH A. LOWE, "AUNT SADE LOWE," has so won her place in the hearts of this whole community that her going will be a real loss to everyone here. She was one of the oldest inhabitants in this part of Iowa, and certainly one of the truest souls who ever lived anywhere.
MRS. SARAH A. LOWE was born in Ohio, on October 24th, l844.In l855, her father, DR. WILLIAM CHANEY, moved to Iowa and located about three miles northeast of Weldon.MRS. LOWE has lived from that time until now in Clarke and Decatur Counties.
She was married in l864 to MR. THOMAS J. LOWE on his return from the Civil War.MR. LOWE died here in Weldon in l90l.Both of the children preceded their parents, EVA BELLE, the youngest, having died at the age of fifteen and LULU having passed away the August before her father.
MRS. LOWE was a member of the Christian Church at Weldon. No one could have been more faithful or consecrated. She was always in her place in every service. She was loyal to every work which the church tried to do.Even in the last year when it no doubt often took more effort than we knew, she was regular in her attendance.
Saturday, although she had been feeling poorly for a number of weeks, MRS. LOWE was up town, made a call, went over to her home which had been closed since the epidemic and seemed in the best of spirits.Early in the evening she had a stroke which paralized her left side. She appeared to get worse instead of better during the night and passed away at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, MR. and MRS. U.H. LOWE, at two o'clock Sunday morning, January l2, l9l9.
The funeral service was held from the Christian Church and burial was in the Lowe Cemetery Tuesday, January l4th, l9l9.
