Elijah was my father,(Marthas son) was born 17 Aug 1889 as per Martin Co. birth records and family history. The only Samuel was my
grandfather(Marthas husband) born 14 Sept 1857 in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio. and came to Ind when he was a couple of years old.His parents were Jacob Heckler and Elisabeth Ritchey or Ritchie. Its spelled both way in family records. We've never had any record of twins in the family.
I don't think Mary Ann died in Somerset, Ky.Because my dad and grandpa moved there in probably 1899.However I do wonder about Decatur, Macon Co. Ill. The Hecklers had connections there earlier in the late 70s.I'm going to start visiting county courthousesin Lawrence, Orange, Scott @ Clark Counties now that I know there was a connection at one time.
I'd love to have your book. My address is
4680 Seven Springs Rd. S.E.
Elizabeth, In. 47117
Incidentally, this is in Harrison Co.
When you get my letter in the mail you will probably already have heard everything in it. It went to your old e-mail address and was returned so I just stuck it in an envelope and sent it.I got your address from some other places on GenForum(don't even remember where.
I'm sorry if my last message was confusing.I'll try to settle down and be more coherent. It must have been the shock of the Hezekiah-Mary Ann thing.I wonder if the Hecklers knew.If they did they didn't pass it on. I had never posted anything on the Chaneys as I really haven't been doing this too long and I was pretty discouraged as nothing looked familiar and I had so little myself. The other day I just happeded into the Murphy forum by chance and noticed the Murphy-Smallwood posts. When I read them they were the right ones. I had known about the twins Sarah and E. Lawrence from the census in Martin Co.I just naturally thought that John Murphy had diedand Hezekiah had a first wife that had died and he and Mary Ann had married after that.I guess that just goes to show that nothing can be taken for granted.
I'll be looking forward to the book.
