You are welcome. I did a little more looking after I posted my reply and found Samuel Chandler in the "History of Hillsboro." You can probably Google it. According to that book, Samuel was born in Andover, Mass on Jan. 25, 1767. He married Sarah Jaques. There is more than one spelling of that name. It sounds French, but I think it is English. Andover is the home town of the William and Annis Chandler family. There is a huge book, "The Chandler Family" which lists most of the descendants until somewhere in the 19th century. You may be able to find Samuel there.
The "History of Hillsboro", listed Samuel's children with the notation that his son, also named Samuel, moved west and no more was known of him. That would have been Alexander's father. Those old books are helpful, but many have errors so I always take them with a grain of salt.
I was very interested that you mentioned the Brown family. My brick wall is Zeruiah Brown of North Yarmouth, Maine born sometime in the mid 1700s. My ggg-grandmother was Rebecca Chandler. Her parents were either Abel Chandler and Sarah Weston or Jonathan Chandler and Zeruiah Brown. They are both Edmund descendants, just different branches. I am guessing that Zeruiah's father could have been Jacob Brown. If you know anything about Maine Browns, I would appreciate it if you would let me know.
