I know there are blood tests that will determine if you are of Jewish descent. Just as there are blood tests which will show if you have European, African/black blood, Native American or Asian blood in you. True it won't take you to a single individual but these tests will tell you if you have any of this blood line in you. Since I know I have Native American blood in me, my cousin who tested does show this, that we have eastern Native American, she also has Mayan Indian in her. We are trying to figure that one out. Believe this came from her father's side and not her mother's.
As far as I know none of the Chandler males who have tested have the marker in the Chandler DNA. If the ones who believe they descend from this John Chandler the Immigrant wants to know if they have Jewish ancestors then they should take the test to find out. That would answer the question on whether either John Chandler or Elizabeth LNU (Lupo) were of Jewish descent.
About 10 yrs back my oldest son was sick and they took blood tests as the doctor who was treating him thought he had this disorder that is predominantly carried by Jewish people. My son called me and asked if we had Jewish blood in us. I told him as far as I knew we didn't but I never say never, that it was possible I guess. His blood tests were negative and to my knowledge it showed that he didn't have Jewish blood in him. Turns out he didn't have anything serious at all, just a doctor who watches too much doctor dramas on tv.
From what I understand these tests will tell from both maternal and paternal ancestry.
