See that the rootsweb posters have a Jacob Chandler as Isreal/Israel's father. They have Jacob Chandler born ca 1725, with Israel/Isreal Chandler born 1770. They have Jacob born probably South Carolina. In 1725 the only section of SC that was populated by the whites was on the Atlantic, none inland. And not too much of that part of the state was populated. I also don't have a Jacob Chandler listed in my files, so now need to find out who he was. I do find a Jacob Chandler who was in the Militia in Virginia on May 18, 1761 Frederick Co. Also "Colonial Soldiers of the South, May 18, 1761, he is listed again Frederick Co. VA. In 1790 there is a Jacob Chandler living in Newberry Dist, SC Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy. Vol. VI: (Virginia)9-27-1764 Jacob Chandler married Ann [b. 2-1-1751]dt of Jonathan Taylor [page 449] Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy. Vol. I: (North Carolina Yearly Meeting)early members of Bush River Meeting....Jacob Chandler pg 1017 Jacob Chandler Alisabeth Chandler Children: David b.3-23-1759 d. about 4 weeks Alisabeth b. 9-19-1765 Jonathan b. 2-2-1768 Israel b. 3-25-1770 Gabriel b. 3-25-1772 d. 27th buried Bush River Ann b. 12-14-1774 d. 28th So it does seem that this Jacob and family were Quakers, now whether they were dismissed/disowned I don't know yet.
