Sheila:
I'm afraid I can't tell you much about Wiley Chancey. Just like your records, mine show he was in Cumberland Co., KY, in time for the 1810 federal census, and was still there for the 1830 census. In 1810, Wiley's age is within the 16-26 group, indicating a birth during 1784-94. Since he's married, it's more likely he was born during 1784-89. His wife is within the same age range and there's an older woman living with them (his mother?). Wiley is in Cumberland a few years before my line of Chancey's came down the Ohio to Illinois and (W) Va. This indicates that he's probably one of the eastern Virgina Chancey's rather than a New England Chauncey (my ancester Hiram Chancey was the son of Roswell Cha(u)ncey of NY and Massachusetts). The Chancey's of eastern Virgina were there as early as 1688, when Henry Chancey sold 150 acres in Accomack County. (Accomack is the southeastern part of the VA/MD/Delaware pennisula.) I don't know much about these and other VA Chancey's except that there were various people with that surname across eastern VA [John and Betsey Chancey in New Kent Co. in the 1760's; Samuel Chancey in Dinwiddie Co. in 1810, and so on. I'll certainly keep my eyes open for Wiley in case he turns up. Good luck, Cliff
