There was a John Chancey in Jones County in 1820 (there were no 1790, 1800 or 1810 Ga. censuses).

I found no William Chancey/Chancy in Georgia in 1820 in this part of the state.

We know of a John Chancey who married a Mary Ann Chapman...and Mary is often found with the nickname Polly...but, of course this is not she.

There is the possibility that the John Chancey enumerated in the 1820 Jones County census may have been John William Chancey... I have seen several of those...both John and William were widely popular names then (and now).

If you have found anything at all concerning this William Chancy in the recent 2/3 years.. I would be very interested..

Should you email direct...be very sure the word genealogy appears in the subject area.

Thanks,
Rob
