Looking for info on my greatgrandmother

married Harvey H, Hefner 1896 Clay Co NC d. 19660
Harvey Hefner has maintained until his death in 1960 that his wife Laura Chance was a Creek Indian and she and her mother had to leave the reservation when she married.
Laura Chance"s mother, according to family was Elizabeth Milsaps, and her father was William Chance.
Does anyone have info on this Laura Chance or the Indian Connection?
