Have posts on this forum and other sites on the web, which names BENJAMIN CHANCE's wife Rachael (?SHARPLESS) and also names SAMUEL CHANCE's wife Rebecca (?SHARPLESS).. Information given in the SHARPLES(S) FAMILY BOOK, breaks down to.... Jane HOWARD d/o John HOWARD (b. Feb. 3, 1725) and Elizabeth PERRY Jane HOWARD granddaughter of Henry HOWARD & Hanna SHARPLESS (b. Aug 5, 1699) Jane HOWARD great granddaughter of John SHARPLESS & Hannah PENNEL SHARPLES(S) FAMILY BOOK.. John HOWARD (b. Feb. 3, 1725) and Elizabeth PERRY ISSUE (Children): Peter HOWARD, probably died unmarried. Jane HOWARD married Benjamin Chance about 1773. Grace HOWARD (about 1748-1814), married George Good. Perry HOWARD ( - 1812), in April 1793 married Elizabeth Evans (1776-1869). Mary HOWARD married Benjamin Worrall. 1773 - Benjamin CHANCE marries Jane HOWARD; she is removed from the rolls of Quakers for marrying out of unison. (Sharpless family history - Quaker records, Widener Institute) SHARPLES(S) FAMILY BOOK.. Her family notes: Hanna SHARPLESS, b. Aug 5, 1699, dau of John & Hannah (PENNEL) SHARPLESS married at the Chester Friends Society to Henry HOWARD, son of Richard HOWARD from England. Of their nine children, son John HOWARD b. Feb. 3, 1725 m. Aug. 22, 1747 to Elizabeth PERRY, dau of Christopher PERRY. John's daughter Jane CHANCE is named in her grandmother's will. Oddly enough Jane HOWARD - granddaughter of Hanna SHARPLES(S) is the only wife of a Benjamin CHANCE (in that era) that does not get recognition of the SHARPLES(S) line?? I should think the SHARPLESS Family Books, would also positively identify Rebecca & Rachael if they are indeed Sharpless'. For now, we know JANE HOWARD's grandmother was a SHARPLESS.. Jane HOWARD married Benjamin CHANCE abt 1773 Have found several PERRY CHANCE's generate from OHIO - which I believe is due to the fact that Jane Howard's mothers maiden name was PERRY-- it also stands to reason, Jane named a son PETER after her brother.. a son JOHN for her father... and a son BENJAMIN after her husband.. This states BENJAMIN CHANCE died in Harrison Co., OHIO.. this also mentions a PETER CHANCE - more than likely a son of BENJAMIN CHANCE & JANE HOWARD, while we have found Perry, had a son Peter, it is most unlikely that he (Perry) purchased land from his son...
