Just to help, I have no relationship with this couple. Jeanne nee Champoux wife of ElzearCardinal, a former resident of Creston, passed away July 11, 2003 at the Sagebrush Lodge in Osoyoos, B.C. at the age of 102 years. Jeanne, in the middle of a family of 13 children, was born to Joseph and Victoria Champoux near Trois-Riveres, Quebec. She was married to Elzear Cardinal, who died more than three decades ago, and the couple raised two children and a foster son Bob Jodouin of Golden. She has seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Jeanne worked as a governess and licenced dietitian while her husband was a farmer. She worked for wealthy families in Baltimore, Maryland and Scranton, Pennsylvania. Her daughter, Marie-Jeanne Cardinal, has described her mother as feisty, but generous and a fiercely proud ninth generation Canadian. Marie-Jeanne says her mother inspired her and young people to learn and improve their own lives. But she was also described as thrifty and resourceful. ?She always made something out of nothing, she was the original recycler.? A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Marcel Cote officiating. Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution in Jeanne?s name may do so to the Sagebrush Lodge ?Garden Fund?, P.O. Box 1919, 4816 - 89th St., Osoyoos, B.C. V0H 1V0.
