Where do I start!? John Champeau Quebec to Adams, Mass

As far as I know I am the last and youngest of my line...in a family of all girls!
I want to trace my line back to France. Can anyone suggest a starting point?
I know my Great Grandfather, John Champeau is from the Sherbrook, Que area and arrived in Adams, Mass. C'est tout!
