Hi Lori, Thanks for your quick response to my message. I don't think that my relative looked for the name Chapataw in the Cherokee records. In fact, I would be positive that she didn't. I was told that my gggrandmother was a Tennessee Indian. But I don't have the slighest idea in where to start looking for her. Do you suppose that they could have still been Cherokee? Were the Cherokees ever in Tenn? How easy is it to search records in Cherokee? We don't live too awfully far from there. We live in S.C. at the foothills of Henderson Co. mountains. It would be easy enough if we were certain that we could find something. I believe that I've seen several books in our local library for Cherokee Indians - one of them is called "Cherokee Roots". I searched in the book, but at that time, looking for Champion. I was told that Keziah's father's name was James Champion. Her lineage: James Nathan Drake b 3/15/1810 m. Keziah Champion, b 12/18/1816 in Huckleberry Clear Creek Twp., Henderson Co., NC [note here says: could have been Tenn.] They had 10 children, all born in Henderson Co., NC. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Sue
