I am researching the line of James W. Champion, b 1792, South Carolina. I cannot make a link with John Champion from Halifax County, NC. James Champion b 1792 SC, is in Putnam County, Georgia, 1820 Census, Page 080, next to Abner Champion, Page 092 and Henry Champion, Page 101. In Warren County, 1820 Census, we find John Champion, Page 279 and Murphey Champion, Page 277. Some names which seem to follow James Champion from place to place in Georgia are Henry, Abel, George, Jason, and Luke. Luke also shows up in Shelby County, Alabama in 1860. James Champion's daughter, Elizabeth Champion married John Oglesby on June 22, 1850, in Shelby County, Alabama. John and Elizabeth's daughter, Sally Oglesby married John Daniel Bracknell in Bibb County, Alabama. The Oglesby, Champion and Bracknell familes lived near each other in Edgeville County, South Carolina before they came to Alabama. I feel there may be a link with Henery Champion listed as a Head of Family in the 1790 Edgefield County South Carolina Census. Can anyone clarify any of this information? I will continue to research.
