Racheal Ann Powell the first wife of William L. Champion died in Mar 1858. William married his second wife Racheal L. Thompson on 2 Feb 1860 in Shelby County, Alabama. The 1860 census of Bibb County, Alabama lists William L. Champion, Racheal (Thompson), Nancy 11, and James E. 9. The 1870 census of Baker (Chilton) County, Alabama lists William L., Racheal (Thompson), James 19, Thomas 17, John 15, Shelby 13, and Martha 11. Nancy is gone and pops up on 14 May 1874 when she married John Killpatrick. 1870 additions Thomas, John, and Shelby are of the correct age to be the children of William and Racheal Powell who died in Mar 1858 according to the two sources I have. Where were they at the time of the 1860 census. If in fact Racheal Powell did pass in Mar 1858 Martha could not be her child. However, every family tree I have seen lists the above children as children of William and Racheal Powell. Can anyone out there help? Thanx.....Charlie Notify Administrator about this message?
