Edie,
I am the great, great grandaughter of George Champion (brother to Edith Champion). My grandfather is Clarence M. Champion (aka Bud), son of Clarence and Queenah Romain Clark in Denver.

My grandparents have researched our genealogy extensively. (In fact, my grandma, Helen thinks she may have talked to you before--an Edith in CA and if so, she tried to write to you, but the letter came back b/c you had moved).

All my grandparents know about the original George Champion is that he died a few weeks after getting off the ship in New York (probably 1869). They think he had two wives, but don't know either name and neither were on the ship, so both probably died prior to the family leaving England. They believe the first wife is the mother of all the children. The reason they believe there's a second wife is they have an old picture with "George's second wife" written on it. So any more info you have on him would be greatly appreciated.

As for George Washington Champion's death date, Grandma didn't know it off hand, but was at the funeral and will look it up. (Incidentally, George is a half brother to the rest--he was Bertha child from a previous marriage--although it's a theory that the marriage to Gates never actually happened--and and his stepfather, George Champion, adopted him).

Edith Champion and James Needham had 3 kids. Ralph b. Sept 1886 d. June 2 1890 is buried in CA. Edith Amelia b. 1888 and d. 1993 (who my grandparnets met) is buried in Rose Dale Cemetary and of course Margaret Josephine. Grandma would like to know if you have a marriage date for Margaret and Arthur Inman and if you wouldn't mind giving the names and birthdates of their kids. (My Grandparents have about 25 or 30 volumes of direct and nondirect heritage lines.)

They don't have email, so if you would like to contact them:
Bud and Helen Champion
6942 Vance Street
Arvada, Co 80003

Thanks so much!
Stephanie
