Hi Linda, I am the great-grandson of Thomas Jackson Ireland, who was married to Mary Anna (or Anne?) Champion. My line goes through T. J. Ireland's first wife, Mary Bozeman. Their son, Jesse Leo Ireland, was my grandfather. Lula Mae Ireland is his half-sister and my great half-aunt (isn't that an awkward phrase?) Although we are not related to each other, we are both related to Lula Mae Ireland. There is also a man named J. E. Champion who witnessed on behalf of Thomas J. Ireland Sr. (the father of Tom Ireland) in Chipley, Washington Co., FL in 1900, as part of a Confederate Soldier pension application for the state of Florida. (T. J. Sr's service was in the 61St GA Infantry, recruited in Brooks Co., GA.) It seems reasonable to assume that J. E. Champion and Mary Anna Champion might be related. Do you know anything about J. E. Champion? I know that T.J. Ireland Jr. and Mary Anne Champion did not part on happy terms; she apparently left him (it was for each of them their second marriage, I believe.) Whatever information you could provide on the Champion family would be greatly appreciated. BTW, I have scanned images of the wedding photo of Thomas J. Ireland and Mary Anna Champion, of Lula Mae Ireland, Hopson Lanier and others. Would you like them? I can send them as attachments. Sincerely, Steve Bird Notify Administrator about this message?
