Albert Champion 1816 Brownsville, Texas

My family emigrated from Italy, descendents of Giorgio Campeoni(b6-6-1783) and Maria Bronzin (b5-18-1785). My line is through Albert (Campeoni), changed to Champion, the 2nd of Giorgio's six sons (b.5-9-1816) who is believed to have settled in or near Brownsville, Texas. His son, my great-grandfather George, married Emilia Werbiski. Her father, my great-grandfather Andrew Werbiski was the first elected mayor of Brownsville following the Civil War. A museum at Port Isabel, Texas is housed in George's cousin Charles mercantile and home. If you have info to share, I'd appreciate it, especially earlier than 1917. I'm not a genealogist. My information is handed down by family. Thanks.
