In lookin at deeds at the Rutherford County Courthouse, North Carolina, I find the following information:
In 1796-Land granted to Richard Champion of
Rutherford County.
In 1810-Richard Champion sold to John Champion of District of Spartanburg.
In 1823-John Champion of Rutherford Co. sold to Richard Champion.
All of these seem to be the same land or in the same area. This is where my grandfather, John Landrum Champion was born. His father was Richard Champion b.1845, but I haven't been able to figure out who would be Richard's father. It seems from these deeds that it could be either John or Richard. I was wondering if you could give me any information on these Champions. I would appreciate it very much, since I am new at this. Thank you.
