Norman..No 2..the letter is from my great grandfather to his grandsons on active duty in England in 1946. At the bottom of the letter in spidery writing he says that his "paternal grandfather was John James Fitcher Champion.
His brothers carried on the firm of Champion ??Vinegar firm which from the s? directory I find is now Champions Deuce Pty Ltd 42 Caladonia (Sp) hard to read Kensington N7 When Uncle Willie was in England in 1885 he went to see them and they said they would have recognised him from the family resemblence he bore. We have never communicated with them." The information I have on Champion Vinegar history is from the Director of British Vinegars Ltd, Mr K.C.Meyrick in a letter in 1980 and with accompanying history. sounds like this is what you may need..Ihave given you most of the details though.
