I have some additional information...after looking over deeds and marriage records from Granville County, North Carolina, it seems likely that the Champions in Spartanburg and York County, South Carolina, are related to the Champions in Granville County, North Carolina. If you are working on families in these three counties, let's pool our info.

(Other related families, probably Halifax and Edgecombe County, North Carolina, and possibly Isle of Wight County, Virginia.)
