There was a John Champion, born 1782, that lived on PEI, Canada. There is some thought that the family might have came from the Virginia area as Empire Loyalists.
Early writings also mention about 2 brothers, William & Benjamin, who left Virginia and "settled on an island off the east coast of Canada" which could be Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland.
I am descended from John b.1782 mentioned above and the names of William and Benjamin are very common in the early 1800 famililies.
