I've posted this in a couple of places in hopes that you will receive it:
I am hoping to find information on my Champ line that originated in England. My earliest Champ is Frederick Champ who came to America with his wife Frances Lucas in the 1840's (approx) and settled near Rockford, IL.
I only have information about their second son. George Herbert Champ. He was born November 13, 1856, at Rockford, Illinois. In the spring of 1879, he went to Council Bluffs, Iowa where he built a banking business and invested in real estate. After being financially wiped out in a recession, he worked for the railroad purchasing right of way between Ogden, Utah and Los Angeles, California. Finally he settled in Logan, Utah with his wife Alla Dora after they went there on a family visit to see Alla Doraís sister, a teacher in the local Episcopal missionary school. In Logan, he started a banking business in 1892.
Their son, Frederick Percival Champ was born June 4, 1896, in Salt Lake City. He attended Harvard. Then following his fatherís death in 1919, Frederick Percival Champ took over the banking business and settled in Logan. Mr. Champ married Frances Elizabeth Winton in Duluth, Minnesota on December 29, 1921.
Frederick Percival Champ and Frances Elizabeth Winton had three children: George Herbert Champ born: 11/13/1926, Mary Knox Champ, and Frederick Winton Champ.
