Champ Family Genealogy Forum

I am hoping to find information on my Champ/Gould line that originated in England. My earliest Champ is John B, Champ who came to America in the early 1830's and settled near Pittsburgh, PA. He was married to Jeannette Gould. She died about 1836 and he died about 1843. They had 2 children - a son, Alfred, (no information on him) and a daughter, Jeannette Elizabeth, from whom I descend. I have a little information on them that I gleaned from some old letters in my possession. Jenny Elizabeth's cousin in England corresponded with her in the late 1800's. I also have a letter from John Champ from 1836 written to his relatives in Devon. (Ironically, the English relatives sent his letters back to his daughter after he died for the sake of genealogy!) Anyway, It seems that Jeannette Gould was the sister of John, WIlliam, and a sister whose daughter was F. M. Hines (not sure if Hines was the mother's married name) Their letters came from Weymouth, Dorset, England. The Gould's parents were a Mr. Gould and an unknown Evans Gould. She had an uncle Lavington Evans (of the Bristol Branch - whatever that means) and he had a son named Samuel. John B. Champ was in contact/business with some of the Goulds in AMerica. I know nothing further of his line but am anxious to find ANYTHING that might be a lead.. I look forward to hearing from you. Mary
