Hi Judy,
I don't have a wife's name for Samuel (b. 1819), just his children's names. But it is very possible it id the same Samuel.George and Mary had a baby boy, Napoleon, in 1807 who also died in 1807.Their next child is Malinda b. 1809.Most of their children are two years apart except for Elizabeth and Thomas, so after Napoleon's death, they could have had Samuel befor Malinda.I'm finding differences in dates and names too, the only way to be sure is birth certificates, which aren't easy to find and weren't available in the early years in many states.I have seen French Chamblin married to Hannah Purcell and I have seen John Chamblin married to Hannah Purcell. It is possible that French was named French John or John French..the family may have called him both.
Any information you would like to share, I would love to have--I'm trying to fill in the blanks.
I have a story that Elzy's youngest daughter Jane b. 1841 was married to Irwin Flick, they had five children. The whole family was lost in Mississippi flood, 187?.I assume it means the Mississippi River and not the state.Have you heard or seen anything about that.Their is also a traditional family story that Mary Davis was a lady in waiting to the Queen of France.I doubt this very much, but it is a nice story and re-enforces the French connection, except that Davis is more an English name than French! One of the Queens of France had four English ladies in waiting named Mary; they were known as the four Mary's, one of them was a Mary Davis--which may be how the story got started.Would have to check history books to see what the dates were to see if it was possible.
