>>Perhaps you can help. I am looking for the parents and descendants of Ester or Esther Chamblee, b. abt. 1789 in Anderson Co. SC She married Jonathan Watson, b. 1784...<

I'll tell you what I know on the Jonathan Watson line, but I can't vouch for the research since I have not particularly dug into the Watson line myself. Hopefully other people will use primary sources and reprove the passed-around genealogy.

It is easily proven, however, that Esther Chamblee was the daughter of Benjamin Chamblee and a Nancy. Benjamin first began in Wake Co NC (on the border between Johnston/Wake County area) where his father, Robert Chamblee lived. Benjamin is a very interesting guy. It is the ONLY child Robert designated with a middle initial in Robert Chamblee's will (the will was signed Robert Chamlee, but the CHAMBLEE/CHAMLEE spelling flipflops from record to record, generation to generation).

Benjamin W. Chamblee migrated to South Carolina with an uncle George Chamblee, and some first cousins, children of Isaac Chamblee of Wake Co NC. George, Issac, Robert MIGHT all be brothers, but I have never been able to prove this due to record lostt in Hertford Co, NC.

Benjamin "of Penalton Co SC" [sic] sold his land to Robert Chamblee of Wake Co NC. Thus, we can tie Benjamin of Pendelton with Robert of Wake Co. Robert left his will NAMING his children, i.e., Benjamin W. Chamblee. So many people in SC claim Benjamin is the son of George Chamblee simply because George was on the scene and Benjamin was listed in the estate records as a "legatee", legalese for "a relative".

I hope this helps.

Now, as far as the Watsons are concerned, I'd love to know how accurate my records are. Write me, dastoddard@aol.com

my best,
D'Ann
