Thanks, Jeff, for the additional information, which has permitted me to trace the family farther on down a bit, in census and other records. Regarding the birthdate for Jonas(5), you are right - the date of 1720/21, though published several places, cannot be correct. According to the lineages prepared by the Chamberlain researcher, David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr., Jonas was born c1710 in Ireland, and died 8 Sep 1771, Sadsbury Twp., Lancaster Co., PA, "aged 61 years." So you are no doubt correct in saying that he was born 1709 in Wexford, Ireland. I have his father listed as Jonas Chamberlain, b. 8 Oct 1686, Little Killane, Wexford, Ireland, who married Mary Boles, 31 Oct 1717, Castel, Co. Wexford, Ireland, and the line goes on back from there.
Regarding the son of Elijah - Jonas who married Elizabeth Danner, 21 Aug 1845, the 1850 Census for Stephensburg, Frederick Co., VA lists this couple, with two children including Charles, age 2, and an older child named Henrietta, age 4. She is not listed with this family in 1860, and I don't find her listed elsewhere in the 1860 Census, so she is probably deceased by that time. I thought you might wish to see this information.
Regarding your own line of descent, you said you are the grgrgrgrgrandson of John Powell Chamberlin (1780-1869), and that his son Osmin (1803-1884) was the only one of John's children to leave descendants. I'd appreciate hearing from you via Email how you are descended from Osmin.
