I'm searching for information on William Chamberlain b 1861 in Weatherly, Carbon County, PA. Died 1941 in Derry, PA.
His obit lists parents as Joseph & Maria Chamberlain. However, family story is that Williams' real last name was BIRD or BYRD and that his father went off to the Civil War and after 7+ years of absense, Maria assumed he was dead and married Joseph Chamberlain. The existing children (William was one)changed their last name to Chamberlain. There are lots of Chamberlains in the "TriCounties" area of PA but I can't make a link anywhere. I can find 1910 census of William and his family (which lists my grandfather, Roy, age 7)
Any information would be greatly appreciated as I've hit a brick wall and may never know anything from here!
