The U. S. Social Security Death Index lists only one person by the name of John Chamberlin (also checked Chamberlain), who died 1988 or 1989 in WA State: S.S.#533-30-1506 issued in WA State, b. 17 Apr 1933, d. 4 May 1989; last Zip Code 99206. Perhaps this is your grandfather, John Allen? Chamberlin.
The only John Allen Ch'n that I can identify is John Allen Chamberlain, b. 1872, d. 1 Aug 1950, places not stated, who m. Minnie Madill. His was a son of John & Marion (Foster) Chamberlain of Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. My notes indicate that all the children of these parents stayed in N.B., so this is not likely anyone related to your John Allen? Chamberlin of Okanogan Valley & Spokane, WA.
I recommend that you contact Carolyn Weidner of Spokane, WA [Email: weidnerc@home.com ], for assistance. She is the publisher/editor of the Chamberlain Chain, a genealogical periodical, and an active member of genealogical societies in WA State. She is probably in the best position to advise you.
The starting point for your search, it seems to me, is to obtain obituary and death/burial records for your grandfather (who died in Spokane but may have been buried elsewhere), and then possibly probate & land records, which may tell you more about his origins, names of other persons in his family, and so forth. You also said that he lived many years in the Okanogan Valley, so there should be records of his family in that area, also.
