The IGI is the International Genealogical Index, made available by the Mormon LDS Church, previously just on CD-ROM, at their libraries throughout the U.S. & elsewhere. During the past year, they opened an important site on the internet, available to the public without charge, which features the IGI, in searchable format. Their website is: http://www.familysearch.org/ This is an excellent tool for research (I use it every day for one thing or another), but all serious genealogical researchers are aware that some published Mormon lineages are incorrect, so extreme caution is advised.
