For the benefit of other researchers, this is the Chamberlin line of Shamokin Twp., Northumberland Co., Pennsylvania, beginning with Joseph(7) Chamberlin (1776-1863) and his wife, Mary Lanee Young, who came from Kingwood Twp., Hunterdon Co., NJ, about 1800. Caleb(8) Chamberlin is listed in my records here as the 8th of 12 known children in this family. Refer to Roileen's 6 Jan 1999 Chamberlin GenForum message; she and I corresponded via Email beginning 26 Jan 1999 - I still have her message(s) here, as well as correspondence with other researchers concerning this family's lineage. Refer also to the Family Group Records (FGRs) for Caleb Chamberlin (1813-1884) [LN15677], and his ancestors, prepared by the late David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr., recently made available to the public within the website of the World Chamberlain Genealogical Society. A review of these FGRs, from Caleb(8) [LN15677] on back to John(2), Henry(1) Chamberlin will provide considerable information about sources, proof (or lack thereof), etc., for this lineage listed by Roileen which matches the line of descent as I have here. Most of the information I have here from Caleb(8) on down to Roileen's father's generation I obtained from her own records, I do see.
DNA testing has already been performed for 25 known descendants of Henry(1) Chamberlin - obtaining a positive match for one of Roileen's relatives should confirm this lineage for her line. Contact Philip J. Chamberlain, Email: pjc271828@worldnet.att.net, who coordinates DNA testing for the Society and who will explain the methods, procedures, costs, options, benefits, etc., for testing through the FTDNA company. Philip can also provide information about which of the seven John(2) Henry(1) DNA results to date are the most closely related to her own Chamberlin branch of the family tree. I see that Roileen's father, James Reynolds Chamberlin, might still be alive (born sometime after 1924), so he or one of his 5 or 6 brothers (or one of their sons) listed in my records here are excellent candidates for DNA testing. I don't know whether Roileen has any brothers who would also be good candidates. Please contact me, James B.
