In the name of God Amen. I Arthur Chamberlin, of Amwell Township, Washington County and State of Pennsylvania, being in a low state of health, but sound in mind, memory and judgement, do thin(k) proper this day to make my last will and testament, in manner and form following Viz: First, I will and bequeath my soul to God, who gave it, and my body to the dust to be buried in a decent, and Christian like manner. Secondly, I will that my just debts and funeral charges be paid. Thirdly, I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Rosanna, the use of my plantation until my youngest son arives to the age of twenty one years, provided she remains my widow - also what beds and beding she may think proper for the use of the family, all my kitchen furniture, four cows, two black mares, one bay horse, and one piebate colt, twenty head of sheep, one loom and tackling, fifty pounds of wool, clear of Betty locks, two plows, and what flax oats, corn, rye & wheat my said executors may think necessary, for the support of my family, one harrow, and old waggon, four sett of horse geers, all spinning wheels to be kept for the use of my family, but it is to be understood, that if my wife should marry she is only to have her choice of one horse creature, one bull, and all the hogs to be kept for the use of the family, Fourthly, I will and bequeath to my nephew William Chamberlin, one horse and saddle, to be worth sixty dollars to be given him in two years after my death, and what thick cloth now in the house, to be given him immediately after my death. Fifthly, I will and bequeath to my beloved children William Chamberlin, James Chamberlin, Samuel Chamberlin, Robert Chamberlin, Arthur Chamberlin, Washington Chamberlin, Cephus Chamberlin, Margatet chamberlin, Elizabeth Chamberlin, Sarah Chamberlin and Nancy Chamberlin, an equal portion of all my estate both real and personal not otherwise bequeathed except my daughter Margaret Chamberlin to have one cow over and above her equal share, and Washington Chamberlin my sword, but it is to be understood that any of my children who have received property, the amount to be deducted out of their share, It is my will that if my son Samuel Chamberlin should die before my youngest son becomes of age that his share be equally divided between his children. Sixthly, I will and bequeath to my niece Caroline Chamberlin, one bed and bedding of good quality when she arive of age. Seventhly, I will and bequeath to my brother-in-law, James Morrison, a certain tract of land lying and being on the waters of Peters Creek whereon he now lives. Eightly, I will and bequeath that when my youngest son arrive to the age on twenty one, that my plantation then be sold, and my beloved wife being then living and not married, to have a decent support out of the same, Lastly I do constitute and appoint my sons William Chamberlin and James Chamberlin, my executors of this my last will and testament. Given under my hand and seal this 22d., day of May 1823.
