In Reply to: Moses Chamberlin and Lucy Kendall of VT and OH by Carolyn Barrett of 1044

Carolyn Barrett and I have corresponded extensively, about a year ago, concerning this family. My records here indicate that Moses M. Chamberlin had two known daughters: Martha M. Chamberlin, b. 4 Jun 1813, Sheldon, Franklin Co., VT, d. 14 Jan 1885, whose husband was Lorenzo F. Fassett. My research notes for her state that:

NOTES
Birth date is calculated from age at time of death. She and her deceased husband were mentioned in Philo Chamberlin's 1877 Will. Her short obit. (no place listed; date pencilled-in as 1885), states, "Mrs. Martha M. wife, of L. F. Fassett, an old resident of this village, died Wednesday of last week, Jan. 14th, aged 71 years, 6 months and 10 days. The deceased had been an invalid for several years, but was not dangerously ill until six weeks before her death. She was a sister of Mrs. R. M. Kimball and Mr. C. B. Chamberlin, of Medina. The funeral services were held at the house on Friday, the 16th, conducted by Rev. E. W. Colloque, and the burial took place in the old cemetery."
END OF NOTES

Martha's sister was Rebecca M. Chamberlin, birth date/place unknown, who married Francis D. Kimball, Esquire, 19 Aug 1850 in Medina Co., OH My research notes for her state:

NOTES
She and her husband were mentioned in Philo Chamberlin's 1877 Will. She is called Mrs. R. M. Kimball in the obit. of her sister Martha M. Chamberlin in 1885.
END OF NOTES

1830 & 1840 census listings for this family list only two daughters, but the 1820 census suggests the possibility of one other.

For the benefit of other researchers, my records here continue to show that the parents of Moses M. (probably named Maynard) Chamberlin, who was born c1783 and married Lucy Kendall before 1811, remain unknown, or at least unproven. As Carolyn is aware, the known children of Ebenezer and Martha "Patty" (Howe) Chamberlain include a son named Maynard, b. c1779, probably Westmoreland, Cheshire Co., New Hampshire, who married Lucy Kendall c1800. Both Moses M. and Maynard lived in Sheldon, Franklin Co., Vermont - the names of their children are different, though they do not overlap each other date-wise, so the two lists of children could be combined. It is almost certain that these are the same families, but proof is lacking at this point.

Ebenezer(6) Chamberlain was born 10 Sep 1754, in Westmoreland, Cheshire Co., NH, and married Martha "Patty" Hose c1776 perhaps there. The ancestral line of descent is listed as: Henry(5) Sr., Henry(4), Henry(3), Henry(2), Henry(1) Chamberlin.
