Hi Dee.I descend from Jonathan and Hannah (Culver) Chamberlain.I have copies of both their Bible records (from Alison Ogilvie)and Jonathan's will (from Washington County). The latter dated July 21, 1833, mentions his surviving children by name.Neither record mentions a son George nor a son John or Jonathan.
You are correct in that Jonathan was the son of Jonathan C. Chamberlain and Rachel Ford who lived in Columbia County, NY, in the late 1700s and early 1800s.Jonathan and Hannah Culver married there about 1796 and shortly thereafter moved to western NY with some of Hannah's relatives.About 1816 Jonathan and his eldest son, Asahel, settled in Washington county, IN, where they purchased land near the present day town of Campbellsburg. Jonathan and Hannah along with six other family members died there during the cholera epidemic of 1833.
There may still be some connection to the George Chamberlain from Knox County but I have never found one.Best regards, Joe
