For the benefit of other researchers, these two brothers who served in WWII (Louis was killed, 31 May 1844 in Nettuno, Italy) are among 11 or 12 known children of Walter Joseph [also called Frederick] Chamberlain, Sr., born 10 Sep 1884, Stoneham, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, d. 4 May 1960, Tewksbury, MA, who was married, 7 Jan 1912 in Boston, MA, to Marion Francis Drohan. Walter's father was Louis Frederick Chamberlain, born 11 Jul 1858, the son of Michael [also called Magloire in some records] Chamberland, born 15 Dec 1831, St-Hyacinthe, Quebec, of French-Canadian ancestry, who came to New Hampshire by 1854 and whose descendants changed their surname to Chamberlain. Michael is said to be the son of Etienne Chamberland of St-Hyancinthe, Quebec, the son of Ignace Chamberland. I've not yet connected this Ignace with the ancient Chamberland line in Quebec that traces on back to Simon & Rene in the 17th century, but it probably connects somehow to this prolific family. Please refer to the 19 Feb 2000 GenForum posting by Walter J. Chamberlain III, Email later changed to: maddog2840@hotmail.com, a direct descendant in this line. See also an Ancestry.com Tree online, with photographs and much more.
