Trying to locate any information on Chamberlain decendents that carry any of the following variations of this name:
Catherine Brown/Catherine/Kathryn/Kathryn Brown. Family history tells of a Cherokee woman who was greatly admired and respected by the Cherokee's and the white missionaries. They gave her the white man's name of Catherine Brown. She was born in 1800 and met the missionaries when whe was 17. The missionaries were the Hoyt's and the Chamberlains. To honor her, there have always been women in our family that carry a variation of her name. In my own lineage, my great, great aunt was Catherine Brown Chamberlain Dunnington. She wss the daughter of Arthur Fanshaw Chamberlain and Leticia Goodykoontz. I'm decendent from another daughter, Dolly Edith Chamberlain Robinson. I had a great aunt named Kathryn Coffee who had a daughter named Kathryn. My name is Kathryn Elizabeth Johnston Martin and I have a daughter named Laurel Kathryn Martin. I have a niece named Catherine Brown Johnston. All of us are named in honor of the original Catherine Brown.
Would love to know of any other branches of the family that carry this name.
