Clark(9) Chamberlin, b. 12 Oct 1859, Franklin Twp., Warren Co., OH, d. 5 Sep 1934, married 1st) Minnie Hare, with two children born prob. Spring Hill, Johnson Co., KS: 1) Clifford, b. 4 Jul 1885, who m. Gertrude Vochel, 7 Jun 1911, with one daughter listed for them (her name/identity withheld by me since she is perhaps still living); 2) Maj. Gen. Stephen Jones Chamberlin, b. 23 Dec 1889, d. 1971, who m. Sarah Chapman Shanks, 2 Mar 1918, with 2 children (their names/identiy withheld by me) listed for them who were born in the 1920s.Clark was married 2nd) 28 May 1902, perhaps Johnson Co., KS, to Blanche Coffman, b. 1872, KS, with no children listed for them.I don't know whether Clifford was a painter in San Francisco, as you have suggested, but Stephen Jones Chamberlin was indeed a graduate of West Point in 1912, and advanced through the military to the rank of Major General, so certainly much public/published information should be readily available about him and his career, and I do know the names of his children, as stated above.
Clark(9) is listed as the youngest of six children of Stephen Jones(8) Chamberlin, b. 22 Jun 1813, Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co., NY, d. 12 Dec, 1881, Carlisle, Warren Co., OH, who was married, 10 Nov 1842 in Carlisle, to Nancy Anderson, b. 22 Oct there, d. March 1910 there.Perhaps you already know the ancestral Chamberlin lineage, since you didn't ask about it, but, for the benefit of other Chamberlain/lin researchers, here it is: Clark(9), Stephen Jones(8), Joseph(7), Joseph(6), John(5), John(4), Henry(3), John(2), Henry(1) Chamberlin of Hingham & Hull, MA, one of the 5 original immigrant Chamberlain/lin ancestors in New England in the early 1600s.
I obtained much of this information from the formal lineages (Family Group Records) of the great Chamberlain researcher of this generation, my associate David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr., who cites the following source: A Brief History and Genealogy of the Chamberlin (Lain) Families, compiled by Maude White Monger and assisted by Leota Perrin Zingabar, 1947; revised 1958, p. 23.This source I haven't seen myself, but presume it can probably be located in the Mormon/LDS Family History Library collection in Salt Lake City.In addition to the ancestral Chamberlin genealogy, I have additional information here, including some census data, and detailed information about Clark's siblings and his Chamberlin cousins and their descendants, as well, should you be interested in attempting to trace them too.
Please contact me via Email if you wish to discuss this information in greater detail.
