Roswell W.(7) Chamberlain, b. c1843, NY, and his younger brother, Jacob Aimes Chamberlain, b. 20 Sep 1846, New York City, NY, are 2 of 4 children listed for John Clinton(6) Chamberlain, b. c1811, NY, who d. 1891 in Warwick, Orange Co., NY, and Mary Aimes, b. c1808, NY.The ancestral lineage is: Joseph(5), Col. Colbe(4), Capt. Joseph(3), Clement(2), William(1) Chamberlain. The two boys are listed as Russell W., age 7, and Jacob A., age 5, in the 1850 Census for NYC Ward 17, together with their parents and two older sisters.John Clinton Chamberlain is identified as LN9377 in the Chamberlain lineages of David Conrad Chamberlin, Sr., and Jacob A. as LN9816.Jacob, who after his retirement in 1893, lived in Warwick, NY (his summer home), died there 28 Jun 1907.He was member #192 of the original Chamberlain Association of America, and was, according to family history, in business with his father in NYC, and had a rendering plant business in Jersey City which eventually became Armour and Co., supposedly.Interesting stuff. He lived in Manhattan in 1880 with his wife Lydia and 5 children, and three domestic servants - obviously quite prosperous.Roswell was also a member of the original CAA, but I have not located any other data for him. Please contact me via Email if you wish additional information, or have data you wish to share.
