The following information is recorded in my research database, for the World Chamberlain Genealogical Society, and I've also printed out a copy of burials in the Cardwell Cemetery, from Caldwell Co. Cemetery records, p. 228, 12 Feb 1969, from an online GenWeb site for this county, which lists just one Chamberlain, Edna, 11 Cardwells, one Watkins, and several other surnames which I don't recognize.
First some background history.A fairly large family of Chamberlains, several siblings & cousins, came from Grainger Co., TN sometime before 1860 with a large Cardwell family. Two of the Chamberlains married Watkins in Jefferson Co., TN c1820.I have here the ancestral lineage for this Chamberlain family, but won't take the time to list the ones who migrated to TX, since the list gets complicated.Anyway, one of the Cardwells was Anthony R. Cardwell, and his wife Mary C. "Polly" Perrimon, with 13 children all born in Grainger & Jefferson Co., TX between 1827 and 1851.This couple is buried in Cardwell Cemetery, together with one son, George Nelson Cardwell, and several other family members, mostly grandchildren. So, I think I can identify all the Cardwells buried there, and provide considerable additional data on this family, if you wish.
One of the Cardwell sons, James Albert, b. 27 Aug 1827, m. Margaret Reese Watkins, daughter of Isaac Jones & Margaret "Peggy" (Chamberlain) Watkins.Margaret Watkins's older brother is John Melton Watkins (1822-1916), who married (2nd) Belvardra N. Combs - you can see at least one of their children, Sarah A. Watkins, in the cemetery list.
Another of the Cardwell sons, Robert Wilkerson Cardwell, b. 14 Jul 1829, married Thompsey C. Watkins, sister of Margaret Reese Watkins and John Melton Watkins mentioned above.
Two other sons, Richard Henry Cardwell, and Thomas Sterling Cardwell, also have children buried in Cardwell cemetery, I see.
So, I am confidant that I've identified the Cardwell & Chamberlain families involved, though I don't know exactly which branch your Edna Chamberlain belongs to - can't find her listed as a wife of any of the Chamberlains, perhaps because she died young, age 18, perhaps shortly after her marriage to a Chamberlain who then married someone else. I don't find her listed as a Cardwell, either, though she may have been one. Please contact me via Email
