My genealogical record comes from a family history by J.W. Chamberlin of Tiffin, Ohio, dated May 1883.
My line traces back to John Chemberlin (Chamberlin), born in Ireland, whose first marriage was to Jane Mills in Little Elk, PA.His second marriage was to Martha Sloan (m. 1809).Their children were William Brown Chemberlin, Martha and Thomas.John Chemberlin was a Justice of the Peace in, I think, Bloomsburg County. His second wife died in 1865 in Iowa where she had been living with her son, Thomas (my line); they lived in Garden Grove, Decatur Co., Iowa.(My line goes John-Thomas-John Fleming-Frank-Donald.)
John's father was Michael: My main goal is to find out WHERE IN IRELAND John came from.John Chemberlin's parents were Michael (d. Feb. 7, 1788) and Martha (d. Sept. 5, 1803) -- they lived and died in Ireland.Michael and Martha had five children: John, Martha (m. George Vance in Ireland), Elizabeth, Sarah and Mary.
My record states: "Some cousins of Michael Chemberlin's children also came to America and lived some time in Adams County, PA.Subsequently one removed to the State of New York, locating between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. The others went to Massachusetts."
In the genealogical record I mentioned, I could find no Amos or Clement.Other than William Brown, mentioned above, there are the following William ChemberlinChamberlins: William H. (b. 1857, son of James Mills), William B. (b. 1850, son of William Brown), William Ferris (b. 1816, son of Thomas).
Regarding other contacts, Valerie Bean Wagner is my sister. How can I contact Karl D. Hockenbarger?
