I'm a descendant of Francois Chagnon dit LaRose & Catherine Charron (on my mother's side) through their daughter Angelique Chagnon. She married Francois Benoit dit Livernois. Later on down the line in my branch ( 4 generations from Angelique & Francois, the surname became various spellings of Levanway. My 3rd great grandfather was Francis Levanway who was born 12 Oct 1798 in Quebec (probably somewhere in Vercheres,Quebec since his father Francois was born in that area in Beloeil.) Francis Levanway married Relief Bevins and died 08 Mar 1869 in Milton,Vermont. He and his wife Relief are buried there in the Old Plains Cemetery next to the railroad tracks. I've been to their grave sight and took a photo of their headstones when I visited there. I live in Burlington,VT which is only a few miles from Milton. In your poat you mentioned a story about the rose-strewn path in connection with the LaRose part of the Chagnon family. I know the meaning of the use in French names of "dit" but haven't heard the story about the rose strewn path. Could you please share the story with me? Also do you know how Catherine Charron's family aquired the dit name Ducharme? I'm interested in any information you have on any of the connected people and families such as Pierre Chagnon,Louise Favreau Aubry,Pierre Charron and Catherine Pillat as well as your husband's lineage. I'd be happy to share what I have on them with you. Perhaps we can swap information. Thanks in advance for your assistance. Noreen Maloney LaTour Notify Administrator about this message?
