Hi Chuck and Fred,
I don't know whether or not we're related...but here goes. According to my father's birth certificate, his father, John (Jean???)Chagnon, was born in the 1870's in Sherbrooke, CA. John and his family emigrated to the states when he was a child (VT? definitely later on in MA) . I don't know if he had any siblings or not. As an adult, John married Delina Chouinard and they settled in the Leeds section of Northampton, MA. They raised 7 children...Albina, Flora, Mary, Fred, Arthur, Frank (my father) and Lillian. I do rememeber reading the name Hubert Chagnon in a 1900 City of Northampton Directory. I am certain Hubert and John were related (worked in same place...close in age...lived nearby one another). Hubert disappeared from the city directory sometime after that.
That's all I know. Any possible connection?
