There are a few details in this post that I can clarify.

Onaway is in the northern part of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Nap moved to Onaway as part of the Roland Chagnon family in about 1954-1955.

Napoleon(Nap)Chagnon and I were classmates at Onaway High School, graduating in 1956. We also attended Michigan Tech together before he transferred to, I believe, University of Michigan. As you probably know, he studied anthropology and worked in the Amazon region of Brazil. He married Carlene Badgero, also a 1956 grad of Onaway High. I believe he later taught at the University of California at Santa Barbara and recently retired.

The Chagnon funeral home (Roland was an undertaker) is still in business in Onaway.
