Shari, The Chaffin book is a history and genealogy of my line from Thomas Chaffin who came to VA in 1664.The book gives my ancestors, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren when known. Abner Chaffin, his seven brothers and sister are in the book.I did not have a lot of information on Abner’s brother, Elias Chaffin. However, he is in the book and I have him leaving Flynn’s Lick in Jackson County, TN and dying in IL in the 1850’s.I have Abner listed with 11 children. One of his sons was named Elias.I think he was born about 1810.
Abner Chaffin was born about 1765 in VA.His parents were John and Elizabeth Chaffin of Lunenburg County, VA.John died in 1779 from wounds he received at Valley Forge. His father, Joshua my ancestor, was appointed the administer of his estate.Abner and three of his brother moved from NC to Flynn’s Lick, Jackson County, TN in the 1790’s where they established the Chaffin Settlement on the road to Cookeville. It’s all in the Chaffin book.John Fults
