Barbara, Elizabeth Wright married Francis Marion Chaffin in Crawford Co. AR in 1900.My father, her grandson, believed she was 1/2 Cherokee. Her mothers maiden name was probably Florence Truitt and I believe Elizabeths name was actually Florence Elizabeth Wright but it appears on many of the records as a maiden name of Truitt.I don't believe her father was around much and I can't find any other references to either of her parents.Francis Marion Chaffin was in the 2nd Arkansas Calvary, Co. D on the Union side during the civil war.He served alongside his father, Harmon Chaffin and you will find a great deal of info online for both of them.He died 11/27/14 is buried in the Cemetary at Fort Dodge in Kansas.Elizabeth continued to live in Kansas until my grandfather, Ray Nieto who married 1 of Elizabeths daughters Lois, moved the entire family to Sutter Co. in CA.Elizabeth had 4 children, Minnie, Lois, John and Clara. The photo you have must be Minnie and Lois, as John was not born until 5/7/11.(There was a John W. Chaffin born in OK around 1900 but it's the wrong one.)Minnie and Lois were born in 1901 and 1902.John and Clara were born in 1911 and 1914.The span in ages between the 4 children is due to the fact that some of the time Francis was living in Soldier's Homes recieving medical care instead of home with Elizabeth. He is shown as being in Fort Leavenworth's Soldiers home in 1906. Please email me and we can exchange more info. Thanks, Joyce Chaffin Nieto Keefe.
