Preston Chaffee and Nancy Hewitt of Minnesota 1846

My GreatGreat Grandfather Numa Arnold (born 1846) had an affidavit witnessed by Preston Chaffee born abt 1807 and Milo Chaffee born abt 1846, both of whom lived in Center Creek, Martin, Minnesota. I found all three in the 1880 census for Martin County as well as Nancy Hewiit as Preston's wife. Numa's daughter wrote that her grandmother was a Chaffee, but anything I find for Numa identifies Louisa Hewitt as his mother. His father's name was Jonathan Arnold. Does anyone know enough about these people to help me?
