This information is basically accurate. Mrs. Pope and my mother were second cousins, my mother being the granddaughter of Esther's brother James Polk. Our common ancestor is actually Wm Miranda Chaffee. These records were kept by the Fannie Pendleton side and therefore her aunt is referred to by the familiar "Cattie." Her name was Catalina. She was a school teacher in New Jersey and died in an automobile accident returning to the family farm in BRADFORD COUNTY, Pa. Fannie like her cousin, my grandfather Wm Ambrose Chaffee, settled in Oklahoma east of Enid at Garber. Fannie married a Beckwith. Mrs. Pope was Lillian Beckwith before her marriage. I visited her in a nursing facility in Enid about 1989. She has descendants in Oklahoma and Texas, I believe.

Nearly all the rest of the Chaffee-Pendleton families are to be found in Warren Center, Bradford, Pa.
