Thanks, Steve. You've helped a great deal.
I'm working to solve some tree puzzles with my aunt Gail Schauer in Brainerd Minnesota. Her father was Walt Chaffee,his father was Earl, and Earl's father was Amos Chaffee.

Walt's sister Avis struggled with MS most of her later life. She had put together an extensive family tree, but it is being held hostage at the moment. It was meant to go to my aunt Gail. I believe Avis died in a nursing facility in or near Hinckley, Minn.
Walt's sister Myrtle was a terrific woman. I have some very fond memories of her. She lived and died in Hinckley also.

I have been told that my namesake was the old Curtis Hotel in Minneapolis, possibly the location of conception. Maybe a joke...
A poor one.
