Hi Karen,
Sorry to have not replied, have been away two weeks. My Mom, born 1923, grew up in Dunn County, Town of Lucas, just outside of Menomonie, not far from Eau Claire. Her parents were Orville Chaffee b 1900 d 1979, and Annie Lockrem Chaffee b 1904 d 1995. She moved to Milwaukee in 1946 and then to Waupaca County in 1969. Orville's line back is Raymond, Hiram Walker and then Amos Wells.
Nice to hear from you, cousin. Your assumption about Laura's mom sounds reasonable. I have found many families named children after parents and aunts and uncles. I have been trying to find out more about where the Orville came from in my Mom's family, and have come close, but have a gap. It is the Millar family and they settled in the Oshkosh area of Wisconsin, and my Mom remembers an aunt whose name was Millar from New York, and they all tie in, but I cannot find her actual line. It's a challenge, but is nice to find distant relatives while in the search. Best regards, Chloe
